The Randolph County School System (RCSS) is proud to officially implement a Workforce Roadmap, a College and Career Readiness Continuum, for all RCSS students. The Workforce Roadmap is a strategic career readiness initiative designed to provide students with industry focused training and credentials, employability skill development and successful post-secondary placement through maximizing the opportunities associated with the 26 different Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways coupled with the College and Career Continuum Education Experiences across grades 5-12.
The Workforce Roadmap further provides RCSS students with post-secondary Career Academy certificate and credential opportunities through a proud partnership with Randolph Community College (RCC). This collaboration began in 2023 with workforce certificates in Business and Finance (Randleman High School), Public Service (Wheatmore High School) and Light-Duty Diesel on the campus of Uwharrie Ridge 6-12. The Workforce Roadmap has expanded Career Academies to all RCSS high schools with the addition of Healthcare (Eastern Randolph High School), Cybersecurity (Providence Grove High School), Land Management (Trinity High School), and Data Design (Southwestern Randolph High School) in 2024. Computer Integrated Machining is offered on the campus of RCC, which extends the Metals Manufacturing Pathway at Eastern Randolph High School and Randleman High School. While these Career Academies are specifically designed for each high school, students across the school system will be able to access these programs for any unfilled seats after a designated registration window. Juniors and Seniors who are interested in pursuing Career Academy opportunities should set an advising appointment with their school's RCC Career Coach.
This program includes FREE RCC tuition and textbooks along with the opportunity to earn high school and college credentials. In 2023-2024, RCSS students earned a total of 7,366 credentials aligned with the 26 high school CTE pathways.
A BIG thank you goes to Dr. David Cross (RCSS CTE Director), Stephanie Adams (RCSS Curriculum & Instruction Management Coordinator), the RCSS CTE staff members, and the RCC staff members for all of their hard work, determination and focus on students becoming WORKFORCE READY!
