A cybersecurity incident involving our student information system, named PowerSchool, occurred during December 2024. The Randolph County School System was made aware of this issue on 1/7/25. Since that time, leaders of the Randolph County School System have been trying to learn more about the possible impact of this cybersecurity incident on data related to our staff members, students, and parents. A memorandum has been posted on the school system’s webpage to make staff members, students, and parents aware of this issue. However, the PowerSchool company will handle all official notifications regarding this issue and support to be provided to staff members, students, and parents in relation to this cybersecurity incident. As noted in the memorandum, this cybersecurity incident did not result from any action, or lack of action, by the Randolph County School System or the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Please also note that PowerSchool is used by public school systems in North Carolina.
Se produjo un incidente de ciberseguridad que afectó a nuestro sistema informática estudiantil, llamado PowerSchool. El sistema escolar del condado de Randolph se enteró de este problema el 7 de enero de 2025. Desde entonces, los líderes del sistema escolar del condado de Randolph han estado tratando de obtener más información sobre el posible impacto de este incidente de ciberseguridad en los datos relacionados con nuestro personal, estudiantes y padres.
