Franklinville Elementary took a trip around the world to learn about how the winter holdings are celebrated around the world. The evening began with a wonderful performance of Holiday music from around the world from our third and fourth grade students led by Mr. Reeder, music teacher at Franklinville. Students played handbells to Carol of the Bells from Ukraine and the Nutcracker March from Russia, along with other selections. Students traveled to different classrooms as well to learn about holidays different countries including England, Nigeria, Japan, Italy, China, and Kenya. Students then made and learned to play a game from each of the countries. These supplies and directions were sent home with students to continue to play with their families. All of the math games connected to math standards that students will learn about in each grade level. Students who traveled to at least three countries were able to take home a hot chocolate kit to enjoy at home.
