Franklinville Elementary was recognized as News-O-Matic top user for October. News-O-Matic is a program that the school purchases using Title I funds. At Franklinville Elementary School, we utilize News-O-Matic to ensure students are engaged with rigorous texts that meet our core content requirements. Teachers use News-O-Matic in various ways in English, Language Arts and Social Studies lessons. They also use the texts in whole-group reading lessons to allow students to interact with nonfiction texts. News-O-Matic is a fantastic resource for students during reading stations and has high-interest texts. Students can read text on their reading levels and assess their comprehension using the questions aligned with the texts. This year, our students have been learning about different countries worldwide. News-O-Matic has been an excellent resource for teachers to utilize articles that share information about the countries they are studying.
